Surgery

This is her sister writing for her, because she is recovering at the hospital right now. Surgery went well,it took a total of five hours. Her bones were tougher than the doctor thought and she had a lot more muscle than he thought. She was in recover for 2 1/2 hours. So far everything is going well, and we're hoping for a smooth recovery. More to come once she has had her rest and can get on a computer for herself.

  1. My best wishes sent to Kailey for her speedy recovery. And since lots of people are going through the same situation, sharing her own story in this blog will, nonetheless, inspire people to stand strong.

By the way, have you heard about the Depuy ASR Recall? What's your take on this issue?

  2. I did not have a hip replacement, I had what is called a Periacetabular Osteotomy, which is a procedure where they salvage your own hip rather than give you a new one; So I have no take on the Depuy ASR and it is not something I am looking in to.
This is my personal blog for friends, family, and other Hip Dysplasia patients; I'm not sure if your a hip patient or your trying to "sell something" but I'd appreciate if you'd not write on my blog if you have any other intentions besides just reading and learning from my experiences.

  4. My hip is still a work in progress. It has been a year since surgery and I still go to Physically Therapy twice a week to build up my muscles and work on snapping in the front of my hip. Unfortunately, my pain has begun to return and I am going in for another MRI-A on Friday to see if my doctor can go in arthroscopicly to smooth everything out better in my joint. How long have you known about your hip dysplasia and what have you done already to help with your pain? What doctor are you seeing? I would be interested to know how your story compares. If you haven't done so already, I would recommend looking at DeadLegDore's blog as well. She is about 22 and has had both of her hips done in the past year! I hear she is doing very well, besides some snapping in one of her hips still.
